High and low
Hear the same notes at different heights, and find where the bass lives.
-
Where things sit
DoneA loop with only its drums playing. Switch on the bass, the chords and the lead one at a time, and listen to where each one sits: the bass at the bottom, the lead on top. Bass is low, so headphones help.
3 of 6 parts playing.

Round 1 of 3.
-
Up or down?
Up: from the root to the same note an octave higher.
-
And this one?
Down: an octave, from high to low.
-
One more: a smaller step.
Up, by less: from the root to the fifth, five notes higher.
-

Move it up
DoneOne bass line at four heights. Drag it up while it plays: down low it’s weight you feel more than hear; up high it’s a tune, and it starts to crowd the chords.
Press play, then drag. 0 of 3 heard.
