The loop

Strip a full track down to one bar on repeat, then stack it back up.

0 of 3 steps done
  1. What a loop is

    Done

A loop is a short piece of music, one to four bars long, that plays again and again. A track is a few loops stacked on top of each other, each part repeating at its own length: here the drums and bass repeat every bar, the hook every two bars and the chords every four.

  2. Strip it down

    Done

This is a house loop: four bars, with the chord changing every bar. Play it, then switch to one bar on repeat and listen to what stays the same.

    Play, then hear both.

  3. Stack it back up

    Done

Now build it back up. Only the drums are playing: switch the other parts on one at a time and listen to each one join.
